10 reasons you should love… Summer time

Image

With exams and the final Taystea night of the academic year at Monkey (which went really well, thanks to all who came and supported us again), we haven’t really had time to post as many blog entries as before. Nevertheless, it’s fully summer now, which is good for many reasons, but particularly good because it means both that we have time to write articles and also that the music scene right-now is jam-packed with summery tunes, perfect for a BBQ, chilling on the beach or even just sat in your garden in the sun.

So, I decided that instead of releasing this next 10 reasons to focus on one producer, I’d focus it upon DTB’s favourite summer tunes right now, nice and early, so you can make the most of them in the sun all summer long. Get ready for some funky, disco(y?), uplifting summer house tunes. Viva la 120(ish).

1. Camo & Krooked – Loving You Is Easy

Let’s kick it off with a bit of Camo & Krooked, known for their D&B on the Hospitality label, who, rather surprisingly, released this summer house banger back in November.

2. Zo! Feat. Erro & Phonte – We Are On The Move (Joey Negro Revival Remix)

Joey Negro has been doing this a longlonglong time and shows no sign of stopping making uplifting bangers. This one is my personal favourite at the moment.

3. HNNY – Most Really Pretty Girls Have Pretty Ugly Feet

Okay so it’s got a weird name, but it definitely gets you thinking!!!! Uber chilled out vibes here. Perfect.

4. James Fox – Holding On Feat. Vanity Jay (NYC Remix)

Omg this one is just so so good. No other words needed.

5. Dave Aju – Caller #7 (Seth Troxler & Subb-an Remix)

No, you’re right, its not at all new, but it sure is fucking good, and this is DTB’s favourite summer tunes remember, so we reserve the right to post a 2 year old Seth Troxler song if we want. Dave Aju’s LP ‘Heirlooms’ is a stonker btw.

6. Corrina Joseph – Wanna Get Down (Jaxx Dub Mix)

Another golden oldie. Bassment Jaxx do smooth vibes like very few other producers can. If you’re looking to buy this, the ‘Club Vocal Mix’ is very similar and very good, that’s the copy I have but I couldn’t find a good quality, full length video/link, so this remix had to make do. 🙂

7. Oxia – Perception

Terrace vibes you might say.

8. Richy Ahmed – The Drums Feat. Kevin Knapp

I first heard this on an essential mix or something towards the end of last year, I think. It suits summer BBQ’s and garden parties perfectly though. Slightly deeper than the previous songs.

9. Madison Avenue – Don’t Call Me Baby (Motez Vicious21 Remix)

Yep, went there. Nice deep remix here, but the classic Madison Avenue vocals keep it fitting for a summers evening.

10. Bassment Jaxx – Never Say Never (Mark Knight Remix)

Mark Knight is killing it at the moment, as he has been for most of the last decade, this is no exception. Top of the Beatport House charts after being released earlier this month. Tube bass, soulful vocals and house piano riffs, mmmmmmm. Do we smell charts for Mark Knight on this one? Hopefully. This is out now on beatport and will be released on Bassment Jaxx’s forthcoming album. It’s a fitting send off for this episode of 10 reasons.

Remember, for maximum effect, enjoy these songs with a few drinks in the sun whilst it lasts. Oh, and please, please, drink as irresponsibly as you can.
